Women In Business Summit

Power-packed discussions and topics with cutting-edge thinkers, innovators and doers.

A VISION FOR CORPORATE equity

In Corporate America, making inroads is sometimes tough and Black Women are significantly underrepresented in leadership roles. This conversation is an honest and candid discussion of the challenges and opportunities they faced in their careers and outline strategies as corporate leaders and entrepreneurs to create a more equitable workforce through collaboration, mentorship, and partnership initiatives which are ultimately good for business.

INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Organizers of social movements today use tools such as Airbnb, Go Fund Me, Uber, and social media platforms to mobilize. However, innovative Black women were social entrepreneurs using space in their homes, fundraising competitions, improvised carpool systems, word-of-mouth, and sweat equity to galvanize communities decades ago.

This conversation bridges innovation and entrepreneurship from the past to the present and highlights how Black women continue to create and lead businesses borne from opportunity, problem-solving, and sometimes desperation.

THE NEW MEDIA CLASS

The rise, influence, and power of digital content creators and influencers across industries are experiencing phenomenal growth. From lifestyle to entertainment to health & wellness, we will feature women blazing a trail on Tik-Tok, Instagram, and the rapidly growing Podcast industry, and what it means for the future of cultural ownership.

SCIENCE & TECH Futures

The Covid pandemic and the recent vaccine announcements exponentially amplified the profile of the multi-billion dollar Biotech industry. However, it also exposed the dearth of diversity in Biotech and highlighted systemic diversity issues around funding, implicit bias, lack of a supportive pipeline to identify the next generation of talent — particularly with women and people of color. This panel of Black Women in Biotech will discuss these issues, offer real-world solutions and build a case for Life Science and STEM careers that are more important than ever to prepare and meet society’s most difficult challenges.

Business transformation

A fireside chat with the leadership of the relaunched Ebony magazine and their vision to transform a legacy print publication into a 21st-century omni-channel digital platform.
